On November13, 2008, America's Promise Alliance, a dropout prevention program, along with the City of Tucson and the Metropolitan Education Commission, co-hosted GOAL ONE GRADUATE at Sunnyside High School. This teen summit was designed to give students a voice regarding the high school drop out crisis. Representing Tanque Verde High School included sophomores Steven Goldsmith & Haley Francis and freshmen Lucas Bulau & Grace Gegenheimer. The goal of these student summits is to "increase awareness, encourage collaboration and facilitate action in those states and communities that want to improve their graduation rates."
